Sarah has been named to the planning committees of the Gov 2.0 Expo in Washington D.C. in May and Computers, Freedom & Privacy in Silicon Valley in June. Sarah was also recently selected to speak on a panel at BlogHer ’10 in New York City in August.
In February, Sarah facilitated a session at the Gov 2.0 Camp LA and in January, she spoke on the keynote panel at the Women in Periodical Publishing annual leadership conference in San Francisco.
The Truman National Security Project selected Sarah as one of their 2010 fellows in late December.
On the publishing side, Sarah recently finished review editing Open Government, a book on government, tech and social media for O’Reilly Media. She is partnering with a UK publisher on a book-software combination project, and she is putting final edits on a client’s book on information protection.
Sarah is covering the 2009-2010 figure skating season for BlogHer including the Winter Olympics and the World Championships.
Last year, Sarah launched a column at SFGate.com, San Francisco Chronicle online, in the “City Brights” local luminaries section and Digital Landing published Sarah’s article, “How to Make the Most of Twitter” on their front page.
Also in 2009, the California Democratic Party Computers & Internet Caucus presented Sarah with a Democratic New Media Award in April, along with Secretary of State, Debra Bowen. Sarah was also awarded a Silver Medal from Parenting Publications of America, along with other contributing writers of Bay Area Parent magazine.
As of last September, the CRAVE SF Guide is out, a book featuring great women-owned businesses in the Bay Area including SFBayStyle, an online magazine co-founded by Sarah in 2007.
